F A Q
Q: Why do you promote "weekly" swim lessons?
1. Research has proven that children who swim year 'round learn at a quicker pace, retain
their skills longer, they build self confidence and usually enjoy
coming to swim lessons, in fact, many cry to stay! Children have time to absorb the
information presented to them.
There is no "QUICK FIX" to learning to swim, it takes time and patience to become a
skilled swimmer with proper safety skills.
2. We have found that children have a tendency to become frustrated with the seasonal
programs and seasonal instructors that many times only teach a few weeks per year.
Parents usually find out too late that the seasonal lessons taken with inexperienced
teachers were a waste of time and money. Most of our children swim year 'round but our
summer lesson program are taught by the same seasoned instructors who teach year
'round at our school.
3. Once per week kids usually look forward to their lessons, have time to think of
questions they want to ask, have time to think about the material that
was presented to them and can't wait to get back in water !
Q: Do the children receive a ribbon or a trophy?
ABSOLUTELY! Each time a student passes the required skills for their level, they will
receive a medal or is it is the final level of a series, they will receive a SERIES TROPHY!
Q: Do we have the same instructor every class/can we request a certain
A: We will of course try our best to accommodate your request, but may not be able to do
that. You are not guaranteed same teacher, only the same time slot. Some quit, leave,
move on, retire or have school tests, other jobs, vacations etc. that would interfere with
such a claim.
Q: Do you offer any summer swim lessons?
Yes, we offer one week summer splash clinics for all levels M-F (5 classes) during the
morning hours. Our traditional once per week lessons still go on in the afternoons to
accomodate parents that work. The cost of the summer classes is $100 per week per
student (multiple discounts); you can take as many weeks as you like, spreading them
out over May, June and July. Some kids complete a whole series of 4 levels during the
summer! We start the first week of May and go through July.
WE ALSO HAVE VERY PRODUCTIVE 1/2 DAY SUMMER CAMPS. They are run through
June and July. M-F 9-12 am. These camps provide 2 (two) swim lessons per day, games,
free swim time, water basketball, relays, slide and float time, hula hoop contest, limbo
contest, ice cream eating contest! The cost is currently $175 for the week and no
registration fees! $50 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO BE DEDUCTED
FROM TOTAL. NO REFUNDS.
Q: Can I switch to another camp or lesson summer date after I register?
A: Due to limited spaces, once you register for your SUMMER or HOLIDAY class, we
cannot give refunds on deposits. We will however move/cancel your class within 45 days
of start date. After that, NO TRANSFERS. YOU ARE KEEPING OTHERS FROM TAKING
Q: What if I get sick for my summer lessons at the last minute or during the week, are
there makeups or will I be able to receive a refund?
A. NO REFUNDS AND NO MAKEUPS ON SUMMER LESSONS, SPACE IS VERY LIMITED.
Q: Do you offer any classes for larger group instruction?
We encourage any private schools or larger work groups to call us and let us create
specialized classes for your school or organization! We also can prepare a merit badge
program for your girl or boy scout troop.
Q: WHAT ARE "Swim&m's" and do you give prizes?
Both are a form of positive reinforcement. We "reward" children with m&m's in the water
for their participation. Your child may receive up to 7
m&m's per class (that's only 7 m&m's per week from us). If your child has an allergy to
chocolate, we can substitute with skittles. We prefer m&m's as they
melt in their mouth, no chewing! We celebrate the end of every lesson with a prize, the
kids look forward to coming back so they can pick from the prize
bucket every day! Positive reinforcement is a proven and successful teaching tool.
Q: How do the new "Endless" swim lessons work?
You can sign up at any time, stop at anytime.... you provide us with a withdrawal form 30
days prior to the last class you wish to attend. We have 14 levels so you can continue for
as long as you wish. We even have our own Recreational Swim Team for ages 5-18.
Endless swim lessons are exactly that...endless! Once you enroll with us, you will remain
enrolled until YOU decide to stop, thus eliminating any
renewals, eliminating you from having to com up with a large sum of money all at once,
and never ever losing that preferred time slot because you
forgot to renew! Children receive ribbons as they progress with essential skills and can
earn trophies for each series they complete!
Endless swim lessons provides a more affordable option.
Less paperwork....eliminates the need for you to re-enroll time after time, and
rescheduling every session.
Q: Why do you sing songs and wear silly hats, it seems like playing not
Our Core Value: SAFETY FIRST-FUN SECOND-LEARNING LAST
Research tells us that when children are fearful, they will not perform to their fullest. At
Swimsational, we will first and always keep your child safe and teach them safety. We
incorporate fun and silly songs and games as a form of distraction from their fear which
enables us to gain their trust and move forward with teaching. Many times we just need to
take time for a song to help calm the class or distract them from a new activity that may
seem fearful to them. Children are more receptive to new ideas when presented in a fun
manner. 99.5% of all children reach their goals.
Q: Do you teach safety in your classes?
YES, YES! From infant through adults, from learning how to safely enter the water by
using steps or sit and swivel approach, how to return to the side
in case of accidental fall, basic throw, don't go rescue techniques and on and on!
We teach them why back floating is important...THEY CAN SEE, SHOUT FOR HELP,
BREATHE ON THEIR BACK, THIS IS AN ESSENTIAL LIFE SAVING SKILL. They learn
what they can do in lightning emergency, what is the H.E.L.P. position in the water,
what is the "chain of survival", why CPR is important, why they must obey pool rules for
their safety starting at sitting on their "tommy turtles"during class time when it is not their
turn, why you must look before you leap, why it is best to swim with a buddy, even if you
are a good swimmer, how to disrobe in the water and why, we have safety skills test for
every level starting at Aquatots where students will be asked to swim fully clothed for this
to prepare them for a real life emergency.
We have a safety lesson plan for every one of our 16 levels!
Q: I was taught the Australian crawl stroke, and learned to breathe on the
side, do you teach that? I see kids rolling over to breathe?
Yes. The curriculum Swimsational uses has been tweaked over the years to stay abreast
of the ever changing techniques used and approved by National Organizations.
We teach a swim, roll, swim. It is setting the groundwork for timing and coordination for
the rhythmic breathing used in the Australian Crawl (sometimes
referred to as Freestyle) in later levels. Our main goal is safety in the beginning for your
child. We have some two year olds that can successfully
swim the width of the pool using this technique. Backfloating is a life saving technique as
well. In the beginning, they can roll over onto their back and remain
there as long as they wish, then roll over and continue to swim. It is a way to calm
themselves, think about their next move and swim endlessly. Even when a seasoned
good swimmer can swim the australian crawl or freestyle, at some point, minutes or
hours, YOU WILL TIRE... but being able to transition your body front to back to a resting
position can save anyone's life, adult or child, but it does take practice!
The progression is natural to traditional rhythmic breathing, student will go from rolling
over to rolling partially over then to rhythmic, each becoming
a building block for the next level. Learning to swim is not a "Quick Fix" to drowning
prevention. You must use layers of protection. Please be patient
while we teach your child these life saving techniques!
Q: How do I know what level to register for?
1. If unsure, please call the office. If your child has absolutely NO skills, it will depend on
AGE ONLY and no need for evaluation.
3-5 year old true beginners will be "Krab Dippers Class".
6-14 year old true beginners will be "Dashing Dolphins Class".
See "Register for Classes" page for further class description levels.
2. We offer Free Trial Classes. Simply register as usual for the class that best fits your
child's skill level and write in comments...FREE TRIAL.
Q: Do you offer Private Lessons?
YES! For all levels, Infant through Adult. Call the office to register for private classes.
A private class will ensure you 30 minutes one on one with one of our instructors, no
guarantee that you can have the same instructor, only the time slot. Although we will
certainly try to accommodate your request for a certain instructor, we cannot guarantee
the same instructor each class as things happen, schedules change etc.
Before deciding on private class, review our makeup policies for privates.
You may be asked to take your makeup in a group class due to availability. Under no
circumstances will anyone be allowed to makeup a makeup or continue makeups past
your end date after withdrawal.
Q: Is there a time when we can come to pool and practice?
Not at this time.
Q: Do you offer makeups for classes I can't attend?
We will offer one to two makeups per student per month with the "Endless Swim
Lessons". These need to be made up within the following month or you will lose them.
ALL MAKEUPS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. Nomakeups for summer or holiday classes due to limited
Disclaimer to this free service: You may have a different instructor. Privates may be
asked to do a group lesson in lieu of a private for their makeup. We appreciate you
keeping your child home is he or she is ill with fever, pain in ears or diarrhea. There may
be an instance that we cannot make up a private class due to availability. In this instance
you would lose the makeup. Again, this is a FREE service, you do not pay for it and
therefore there is no guarantee that there will be an available time slot or instructor for
your private class.
Q: There is no registration fee for racing squads, holiday or summer pgrm
Q: What if YOU cancel a class, do you offer a makeup?
Should "Swimsational" cancel any year 'round endless classes for any reason, we will
offer you a makeup class at no charge, subject to availability.
Q: What if my child has tubes in their ears, can they swim?
If your child has tubes, always consult with your doctor and if he approves the lessons, it
is your responsibility to let your teacher know each lesson. We will substitute another
skill for your child that does not require them to dive deeply into the water. Pressure
sometimes can cause discomfort to those with tubes.
Q: How do I get started with my registration?
1. Go to our registration page. Click Here For Registration.
2. Find your class, click on the "register" link beside your class and it will walk you
through our simple quick registration. You will need you credit card
available. You will enter you information through our secure website and you will be
automatically charged for your first month's tuition (pro rated if eligible, discounts for
multiples, plus your annual registration fee. Once you click the register link, you may exit
at any time. Only after pressing "submit" will your
registration be complete. If you gave us your e-mail when registering, you will receive an
immediate automated confirmation via email. See Pricing and
Q: Can I register for classes and squads on your website?
Q: Once I register, when do we start?
You may start the same week that you register but no later than the following week.
Unfortunately due to demand, we cannot hold classes longer than that.
There is a comment section at the end of the registration form. You need to type in the
date that you wish to start so the program knows if your 1st month needs to be prorated
or not. We pro-rate going in, not going out.
Q: Why is there a registration fee and how much is it?
1. The fee helps defray necessary cost of administration for the registration process as
well as our yard sign to you and excess medical/accidental supplemental liability
insurance per student. Registration fees are annual and run from May 1 to May 1.
2. The current cost is $35 for the 1st student, $45 maximum family registration due at time
of registration and each May 1 thereafter. Registration Fees are automatically billed to the
credit card on file if you are enrolled on any given May 1.
Q: If there is more than one location, is the registration fee good for both
Yes. Registration fee is honored at both locations as if one school. If you enroll in one
Swimsational Swim School location and then move to another Swimsational Swim School
location, your new enrollment would be subject to availability but once moved, you
would lose your preferred time at the original school. If you should decide to return, it
would be subject to availability as well.
Q: What if I enroll in the middle of the month?
Your first month's tuition will be pro rated.
Q: What if I leave in the middle of the month?
Please see below "how do I withdraw from lessons". We do not pro rate when leaving.
Q: Why do you charge for lessons and registration up front?
Due to scheduling online, we cannot hold a spot without a registration fee and prorated
first month's tuition. We cannot afford to have someone sign
up and not show up. We determine staffing based upon guaranteed enrollment.
Q: How do I withdraw from lessons?
You must fill out withdrawal form 30 days prior to last month you wish to attend..your auto pay will
then pay that next month, remember you are paying in advance for classes. Remember, if
submitted after the first day of any month, last month to attend is the following month. Example:
If you submit 6/2 through 6/30...your last month charged will be 7/1. we do not sell weekly lessons,
only monthly. We pro-rate when enrolling as a courtesy, but not when leaving.
BY REGISTERING, YOU ARE AGREEING TO AND UNDERSTAND THAT YOU WILL BE BILLED FOR THE
NEXT BILLING CYCLE IF THIS NOTICE IS NOT RECEIVED BEFORE THE 1ST DAY OF YOUR CHILD'S
(OR SELF) FINAL MONTH OF LESSONS AS PER THE REGISTRATION AGREEMENT.
Families who wish to withdraw are MUST fill out a withdrawal form and turn it in AT LEAST
30 days prior to last class that you wish to attend.
NO VERBAL CANCELLATIONS, email's or any other form of communication will be
honored. Why? Because we are only human and are dealing with hundreds of kids per
week and we may not remember to check an email, we may forget to tell the proper person
or simply forget. YOU MUST USE OUR WITHDRAWAL FORM. Withdrawal forms can also
be obtained at the school or on the website/registration page. Once downloaded or
picked up, you may fax (our forms only) to 337 528-7299 or scan and email to
Q: Why do you need 30 days notice?
Due to our small class ratio, we need that time to determine our staffing needs. Our wait
list can get long at times and this gives us ample time to fill your class. We need sufficient
time to fill your time slot.
Q: If I withdraw from lessons, when I decide to return, can I have that same
Unfortunately there is no guarantee. When you turn in your withdrawal the system
creates a "drop date" for you, we reserve the option of pre- filling your spot the week
following your last class. Our wait list gets long at certain times of the year. We will work
with you and do our very best to help but there are no guarantees.

RACING SQUADS (SEPARATE FROM LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM)
IM, BREAST, FREE & BACK, FLY AND PREP RACING SQUADS / USA SWIM
PRACTICE DOES NOT MAKE PERFECT..... PERFECT practice makes perfect.
Swimming laps incorrectly is such a waste of time. We are not just an exercise,
endurance and fitness class, we are hands on skilled teachers. We don't just teach from
the side of the pool and swim laps all day, we actually fix your problems in the water one
on one attention when you need it! Our goals are to produce" legal excellent strokes"
which produce fast times.
Swimsational Coaches don't let you practice a skill wrong time after time. We correct
problems as we go so your student does not form bad habits, create drag, and waste
valuable time. If you spend your time on technique rather than just speed, voilla!...the
speed will come naturally!
Are you wondering why your child is not progressing or struggling with their times each
meet? You must correct the problems in each stroke so swimmers do not struggle and
fight with the water. Then your swimmer will not tire as easily. Once they can swim
correctly and effortlessly, we can then work towards endurance and fitness swims. When
you swim strictly for endurance using improper technique, it's like swimming upstream
against the current, you will never reach your goals or be content with yourself.
Racing squads verses our learn to swim program.
You must first learn the fundamentals of each stroke through a learn to swim program.
Racing squads are designed for those who want to do competitive swimming and reach
higher goals. Your learn to swim program will also teach you mechanics of each stroke
and how to be a safer swimmer. There are pre requisites to be eligible for each squad,
please see registration page. You may attend one, two three or four squads at once or
one at a time. You may attend once, twice or three times a week and change month to
month. Once you remove yourself from a squad, you lose your preferred time slot. Your
re-enrollment is subject to availability.
How do you withdraw from the squad? The same withdrawal form is used to withdraw
but there is NO 30 day notice, you may change from month to month for squads only.
You stay enrolled and automatic withdrawals via credit card on file for your monthly
tuition fees and annual registration fees apply until you fill out the withdrawal form!

have 3. We do not discount or add on fees for short or long months.
Q: Do you offer refunds or credits?
No refunds, credits or transfers will be issued.
Q: How long will my child attend lessons?
With Endless Lessons, your child will continue indefinitely until YOU decide when to stop.
At that time you MUST fill out the withdrawal form 30 days prior to last class you wish to
attend. Please see below.
For example, If you sign up on the 15th of June. If you decide you want to attend through
September 1, you would need to get us the withdrawal form before August 1 or you would
be charged for September.
Summer lessons are for one week only. You must re-enroll for each week you wish to
attend or enroll for additional weeks in advance. Many kids enroll for several camps.
Q: Can I change my credit card on file once I have submitted it?
Yes. You can always stop by the office or log onto your customer portal through our
registration page on our website and change you credit card info, address, check on your
child's skill progress, enroll in a second class, enroll another child etc.
Q: Can I change my day and time once I've started?
Yes. You may change your day and time if there is a spot available. Please consult the
office manager to assist you.
Q: What if my child cries?
Normally, if a child cries on the first couple of lessons, it is due to separation anxiety, not
the water and should resolve after few lessons of orientation. Even if you have the
bravest child in the world they can and probably will have meltdowns. Bad day?
Separaton anxiety? Will you be there when they are done? Think about it.
What are the two basic things we tell our children? Don't talk to strangers and don't go
near the water without mommy. Guess what?
We actually expect some sort of withdrawal at first. Our instructors are trained to handle
these delicate situations. We are strangers to them, there are strange noises echoing
throughout the pool, mommy is not in the water, many times it is their first interaction with
other children, and of course there is the big water! Our pool is especially designed to be
child friendly so they can become confident while learning those basic skills of balance,
coordination and buoyancy.
We need to gain your child's trust to be effective. The best way for parents to handle this
is to calmly hand over your child to the teacher. This reassures the child that you have
confidence in their teacher. Refrain from going back in to check on them. The
teachers are groomed for this. If they need assistance, they will call for assistance. The
end result will be that the child will turn his or her dependency FROM you to THE
INSTRUCTOR in a few lessons.
After a few classes, crying should subside. If not, we may recommend a private class until
they gain their confidence. Please stay in the building while your child is swimming in
case they need to potty. Our instructors may not leave their classes, they will motion for
you to come to the door to assist your child.
Q: What if other children have been in the class for a while and are more
advanced than mine?
Our teachers are trained to "cross teach" when necessary to accommodate every
student. If we feel the class is not a good match, we will approach
you with our suggestions. We utilize skill level cards for each student so instructors can
see exactly what your child is working on each week.
Each LESSON your child is evaluated and any MEDALS or TROPHIES earned will be
given to them the same day!
Most classes progress together even though starting times differ. When your child is
ready to change levels, we will notify you to select a convenient
time to continue the progression.
